The Lizzie Borden Museum

For those of you who don't know, Lizzie Borden is a gal from Fall River, MA who (allegedly) took a hatchet to her father and stepmother's heads in 1892. She was found not guilty of the crimes, but it seems pretty damn likely that she is the culprit. At the time, though, it was inconceivable for a lady of stature to be capable of such atrocities, so she got off. Her father's house (where the murders were committed) is now a museum and a bed and breakfast, and apparently it is entirely haunted by Lizzie (even though she didn't die there), her stepmother Abby and her father Andrew. [For more on Lizzie Borden and this kickass feminist murder, visit the Borden Museum website.

While most of the people on the tour were taking photos of the rooms, the places where people were killed, I was photographing the table settings, books, a mirror. Things that were in the house, things that just existed as an everyday part of these peoples' lives.

Andrew Borden's house, built in 1845. He paid $10,000 for it.
This was the fence in the back yard. It had neat spider webs strung between the rungs, but they're hard to see.
In the gift shop there was this interesting little piece. Who doesn't love Legos?
Sheet music sitting at the piano in the front room.
After many years, the finish on the mirrors begins to peel, leaving interesting cracks like this one.
Pears on the table in the dining room
A replica of Abby and Andrew's skulls
Photos of the actual skulls
Abby's autopsy photo
Andrew's autopsy photo (you can actually see his eye hanging)

Lizzie, in her 30s

A replica of the infamous sofa where Andrew was murdered.
Books in the house

There is a cat that now lives in the house named Max. He is black, and thus there are statues of black cats all throughout the place.

One of the creepiest Lizzie dolls you're likely to see
